Rita Meadows

Rita Meadows was born and educated in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Growing up, her hobbies were music and art. At the age of twenty-one she decided to become a professional singer. She traveled in Europe and North Africa as a vocalist in a band, but she kept art close to her heart and carried her art instruction books with her, not wanting to get too far away from her other love.
In 1974 she moved to the United States, settling in Ocean Springs with her husband, Donald and son, Matthew.
She continued her education at the local community college and attended many workshops by well-known artists. She participated in art competitions and won numerous awards.
In 2003 she wrote, illustrated, photographed and painted a children's book titled "Little Yarn".
Meadows says, "Art and music have always been a part of my life." Her art is as vivacious as her personality, and her paintings, pottery and stoneware jewelry are displayed at The Art House.
