Lynn Barnett

|
Lynn Barnett is a ceramic artist who relocated to the Las Vegas area from Gulfport after Hurricane Katrina. Greatly missing the artist community of Ocean Springs, she rejoined The Art House. Lynns first introduction to making pottery was a wheel class at the George Ohr Museum. From that time on she has been deep in clay. She studied ceramics at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College - Jackson County.. She has continued her studies traveling around the country to workshops given by well-known ceramic artists such as Kathy Triplett, Virginia Scothie, Lana Wilson, and Michael Sherrill. Lynns award winning work has been in many local and national shows. Her pottery is in private collections across the country.
Lynn produces pottery and sculptures in stoneware, preferring to hand build rather than throw on the wheel. Although coils are her favorite method of hand building, she also builds pieces working with an extruder and slabs. She has expanded her body of work to include making beads, pendants, and jewelry fromclay as well. She finds that working in the clay has a very meditative quality that is quite relaxing. Lynns work has clean lines and is organic in nature.
