ARTIST STATEMENT
Today as an artist, I am still dancing to music while
painting at the large easel in my studio. There are several elements
of design that are important to my art and are used throughout my
work. These elements are: direction and movement, balance, color,
line and/or brushwork, and a feeling or mood. My heart just sings
and jumps a beat when fresh, juicy colors are spread onto my palette
ready to begin painting. Applying them in such ways that the colors
dance throughout the painting in different combinations. Direction,
movement, line and/or brushwork create dancing tension felt by the
push-pull effect and the tempos felt while viewing the painting. It
seems that the feeling or mood that is most expressed in my paintings
is that of joy and happiness.
