Artist's Statement Discovery in everyday things
and in the process of how it all works together fascinates me. Art
comes alive to me through images, visions, dreams, feelings, and perceptions.
It seizes my soul from the inside; it searches to find out what it
means in my relationship to the world as I know it. I find that you
must discover who you are as a person through your art and the way
that you express your creativity, whether it be painting, photography,
pottery, or sculpture. It is a declaration of sorts that allows your
inner soul to shine through in your work as an artist. Sometimes the
work is sad, sometimes it is happy, and sometimes it is indifferent
to the world around it. It is this factor that allows me to ascertain
who I am as an artist and exactly what I want to say. That is one
of the reasons that my work is so varied and different; each part
represents a part of who I am, what I see, and what I want to say.
It is my journey of self-discovery and personal style.
Bio Carole Marie has been a professional
artist since 1999. She was a photographer until the year 2000, when
she began taking art classes under the tutelage of Mary Hardy at MGCCC
in Gautier, Mississippi. Mary inspired her to pursue her love of painting
and the arts through many different mediums. Graduating in 2004 with
an Associate of Arts degree member of the All-Mississippi Academic
Team, she painted passionately until Hurricane Katrina made landfall
in August 2005. Throughout 2006, Carole Marie has exhibited her art
from the east coast to the west coast. Although she exhibits her work
locally at the Art House Co-Op in Ocean Springs, the majority of her
paintings have been selected for juried shows out of state.
